Following an MSc in Social Research Methods, Jen joined the National Centre for Social Research to become a founding member of the Qualitative Research Unit. She left this to set up her own company, Focus On Development, to support and create nonprofits that enabled people to lead their own processes of change . Jen co-founded over 30 organisations internationally including an advisory service for the homeless, a masters level school in social development practice and a grantmaking  foundation in the Balkans. 


In 2007 Jen founded Big White Wall to overcome stigma and poor access to mental health support. Using digital technology and data analytics, Big White Wall transformed the mental health journey into one of personalised support and recovery available immediately and anonymously 24/7.  Jen exited BWW in 2016, having grown the UK company to profit within four years of revenue and having overseen the transfer of the HQ to the USA.


In 2016 she founded Troo.AI to perfect conversational AI for human happiness. Troo works with partners including Telefonica, Kings College London and BeatTrauma. She also founded Eartime as a trusted digital marketplace for AI supported conversation.


Jen and her work have attracted multiple awards.  She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and has served on the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Health and Healthcare, the Industry Strategy Board for the Life Sciences UK and the Strategy Committee of Guy’s and St Thomas Charity. She is a well-known public speaker (TEDMED, Davos, mHealth) and she has been widely published (The Huffington Post, The World Economic Forum, The Guardian).
